Well, this is the last day of the month. Earlier I’d committed to doing one post each weekday for this month.

Interesting developments since then:

Traffic to this blog has NOT increased at the same rate as the content on this blog (still getting just around 1 or 2 visitors a day). Clearly it takes more than just content to drive traffic. My next blogging project will likely be link development, but I’m not going to start that immediately.

I have not grown to love blogging. I’m going to take a break for a bit.

In other news, I’ve partially (yes, only partially) solved some of my website frustrations. I managed to get the hosting costs reduced from $150 per month to $75 per month. So with $125 of ad revenue coming in, I’m now $50 in the black instead of $25 in the red – woohoo! Still got to eliminate the time factor though – I’m still doing the work myself which is not good.

Until next time,

NNB

You might also think that I wrote this blog post on the date that it was posted.

This will be posted on Friday June 27, but right now, when I am writing this, it is Saturday June 21. Actually, I wrote all of this weeks posts in advance (on June 21).

I’m taking the advice of Darren Rowse and batching my work (dedicated extended periods of time to one task (such as blogging) instead of multitasking or jumping back and forth between tasks, which kills momentum and really slows down progress.

Try out batching work. You’ll love it.

Come back every day and feast your eyes on a high quality post!

Where do you start?

Caroline Middlebrook wrote an excellent book (completely free) that got me started, and that I’m still referring to as I make improvements to this blog.

I can’t vouch for the value of her whole idea of turning Wordpress blogs into profitable “niche sites” since I have not tried that, but her book is a great resource even if all you want to do is start a regular blog.

Check it out.

Previously I stated that I’d be increasing the posts on this blog for this month. So here we are at June 11, and this is my second post this month. Not much of an improvement. I should have known that with such a vague goal (”I am going to start posting more”) I wouldn’t accomplish much.

Today I heard a wise old blogger say that he was advised long ago to do 3 posts each day, and that it worked well for him. So that is what I shall do for the rest of this month (excluding weekends). You are reading the first post of today. What will I write about? Bah, I can figure out those details later. Two more posts coming very soon.

The wise blogger also said that he spends 2-3 hours a day blogging . I’m more into passive traffic (and income) generation, but what the heck – I can handle it until the end of the month, to see what happens.

I have an aversion to blogging; hence the sparse postings since I started this blog. I have little interest in sharing my thoughts with the random world, and I don’t want this blog to become a “Hey look at me!” project. So at the moment, my preference is to refrain from posting, even if I am doing so anonymously.

BUT do not despair, for although I have an aversion, I am going to start posting more, to see what comes of it, and to see whether my aversion will increase or diminish. Over the next month, expect to see more new posts on here. At the end of June I’ll reassess the situation. Until then, I hope you enjoy the posts!
